Show don't tell

This week for reading my goal was to Use “show not tell” when appropriate. For my create task I did a paragraph about a topic that I got to choose. In my paragraph I had to have a character that used show don't tell, show don't tell is you are saying how they feel but not telling, eg;  her face was bright red, that would be show don't tell.

Its story time

Today I did some writing with my principal and my goal was to elect words and phrases to enhance meaning and/or mood; use language features specific to the purpose of the text. I made a nine sentence story about a clip that we watched and choose a piece of the clip to write about. I choose the second piece, here is my best part of the nine sentence story; I went to take a bite out of it and dad told me to stop, but then he carefully put some delicious and crispy bacon and the egg that was cooked just right on the top.

This week for reading my goal was  to Independently predict, interpret and analyse text, 'reading between the lines' to gain a deeper meaning.  I have made a google drawing about what reading between the lines means.

The storm

This week for writing I had to choose from one of four pictures,  then write a Narrative story about the picture I chose.  My story is about a big storm, and how my friends and I get stuck.  But you can read by clicking on the link that is on this blog. The big bike ride

This week for reading my goal was to think while reading, pick up new information, and come up with new ideas and new thinking.  This week I read the book The Boy on the Bike, I choose this book because even though I don't like reading I do like riding bikes so thought I would enjoy this story.  This story was about a boy raising money to help St Johns to buy a new ambulance.  He rode a very long time, and a very long way and I was amazed that someone this young could do this.

Acrostic Poem

Hi this week for writing my goal is to try selects words or phrases to enhance meaning and/or mood to
confidently shape ideas for effect. So I have made a Acoustic poem for my create task it is about my favourite thing to do, biking.  I have used a metaphor when I said "like the wind". I also used imaginary type words sentences.
