This week for reading my goal was Identify at least one important idea and justify why it is important.
Identify some text events and features, and discuss what they make the reader think about. For my create task this week I have made a DLO of what I read and what I thought where the important ideas. I learnt that New Zealand is a very long away from Gallipoli. I also learnt a large number of the New Zealand people at the time went to war. It would be the same as the all of the people who live in Christchurch and Dunedin going to war today, and only half coming back. The war went for 5 years, I think that is a really long time.
Did anyone in your family went to war?
I am a student at St Francis of Assisi Catholic School. This is a place where I will be able to share my learning with you. Please note....some work won't be edited - just my first drafts, so there may be some surface errors. I would love your feedback, comments, thoughts and ideas.

What have I done for writing?
This week for writing my goal is drawing on knowledge of how words work. I needed to spell a range of personal and high frequency words correctly. What I have done for my create task is that I have made a google drawing on suffix and plurals. I have done five suffix and five plurals I think that the plurals was harder than the suffix.
Do you know what plurals and suffix are?
tally charts
This week for maths my goal was to use more than one way to find a theoretical probability. Make sensible statements about information with reference to supporting evidence. This week for my create task I made a wheel that has got six things that I do in lock down and spin it at least 30 times, to see what tasks spun up and how many times. I spun my wheel 50 times and made a tally chat about how many times it landed on things, here are the results.
Have you down a tally chat before?

Sir John Kirwan
For writing finished my report on Sir John Kirwan. This week my goal is revise and rework my own writing for clarity, impact and purpose. I also had to proofread for spelling, grammar and punctuation. I have included this so you can see the difference when some writing has been edited. After I finished this I was able to make a poster about what the top 3 things you need to remember when you are editing, because I learnt this when editing my own work.

Fake news reading
For my reading task this week, I read all about fake news. As well as reading I also got to play a game where I was a BBC news reporter reporting fake news. Then I got to look at photos and see if they fake or real. Things I learnt from my reading where that when looking on the internet at stories I should look to see if the news is coming from a good source, who wrote it, when they wrote it and is it a reliable. for example Wikipedia is not the most reliable source because I don't know who wrote it, any one can edit it and I don't know when it was written.
Do you know how spot fake news?

The Mathematician
For maths this week my goal was to show my working on standard written form, whole numbers and decimals. I did this task written in my maths book and on a google doc. I think the google doc is better because it easier to read, but it was faster to do it in my maths book. I will put my google doc here to show you my working.

what am I doing for maths?
This week for maths my goal is use a broad range of strategies to solve addition and subtraction problems, with whole numbers and decimals. So you have to do three strategies to complete the goal, this is my second strategy that I am working on. So I have done a problem in my book it is not that clear but it works.
have you tried rounding and compensating whole numbers?

Reading for this week.
This week for reading my goal is to make connections with the text. So I have read texts about Waitangi and bright fine gold. I had to answer some questions about what I had read, the questions are what my prior knowledge was about the text, my own life experience about the texts. The texts were based in the 1840 and the 1864, so a long time ago.
Do you what Waitangi is?

Responding to feedback.
This week I am working from home but doing school work, this post is going to be about writing. This weeks goal for writing is about giving and responding to feedback. So I have made a poster about what I think the top three things you need to remember, when you are giving and responding to feedback. Anything you write people can give you feedback on, and anything you see that someone write you can give them feedback on.
Have you give any feedback to someone?

Living on the moon
Have you ever wondered what it would be like living on the moon? I think that the moon would be cold and what will you eat?. I think that it will be hard because there is no chocolate or chips or something that you like, you would have to bring something with you that will last a long time or it will go off and not taste that good. Living on the moon would be lonely, there would be no friends to play with and no computers but you can jump very high so that would be a lot of fun. So what I am trying to say is that I would not like to live on the moon.
